Jon Cryer: Ashton Kutcher Praises 'Two and a Half' Co-star

"Two and a Half Men" veteran Jon Cryer received a social media salute from co-star Ashton Kutcher Wednesday on his Facebook page as the show aired its finale on Thursday.

"Two and a Half Men" ended its 12-year run on CBS and Kutcher used the Facebook post to call Cryer "a true partner in every sense of the word."

Kutcher came aboard "Two and a Half Men" at the show's most tumultuous time, in its ninth season after the stormy public departure of Charlie Sheen in 2011, wrote People magazine.

Some had hoped to Sheen would return in the finale, but that didn't happen. There were references, though, not only to the actor but his infamous exit as well, according to Mashable.com.

"At the end of an episode, a black-haired figure in a bowling shirt approached the home and was quickly squashed by a piano. Yes, piano," wrote Mashable's Sandra Gonzalez. "The camera then panned out to show Lorre, sitting in a director's chair. 'Winning,' he says, a reference to Sheen's now infamous phrase. Lorre, never one to let himself off the hook, was then squashed by another piano."

Lorre explained the ending on the series finale's closing vanity card, saying that he and Sheen could not agree on how he should return, wrote Digital Spy.com.

"Our idea was to have him walk up to the front door in the last scene, ring the doorbell, then turn, look directly into the camera and go off on a maniacal rant about the dangers of drug abuse," according to the vanity card.

"He would then explain that these dangers only applied to average people. That he was far from average. He was a ninja warrior from Mars. He was invincible… And then we would drop a piano on him. We thought it was funny. He didn't."

The card continued, according to Digital Spy.com: "Instead, he wanted us to write a heart-warming scene that would set up his return to primetime TV in a new sitcom called "The Harpers" starring him and Jon Cryer. We thought that was funny, too."
