Now that they're married, Angelina Jolie has decided she's going to be a better wife to husband and fellow actor Brad Pitt. The two were together for nearly 10 years before marrying in France in August.

"We have moments where I say, 'I'm going to be a better wife! I'm going to learn to cook,' and he says, 'Oh honey, know what you're good at, know what you're not.' He knows my limitations and where I'm a good wife and a good mom," Jolie, 39, told NBC's Tom Brokaw that aired on the "Today" show Tuesday.

The Oscar-winning actress said in the interview that even though she had been with Pitt for almost a decade, the marriage ceremony was special because it was a family affair with the children.

"It was in just a feeling of that security and comfort that we always had, but recommitting after 10 years together," Jolie said about getting married. "And we were fortunate enough to be in that unusual situation where we got married with our children, and they were a part of the ceremony and they wrote some of the vows."

"So it was all of us agreeing to be together and to commit to this life together – not because we had to, not because anything was missing in our lives, but because we were absolutely sure. It was really lovely, it was a lovely day," Jolie said.

The daughter of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight has become known for her humanitarian work around the globe, as well as her acting, serving as a Goodwill ambassador for the United Nationals refugee agency in 2001, according to Biography.com.

In August, she was recognized by Queen Elizabeth for her humanitarian work, receiving the Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, reported People magazine.

Jolie touched on what it was like to work with and direct Pitt in the movie "By the Sea," a romantic drama that she also wrote and is scheduled for theaters in 2015.

"I'm sure I had moments with the actor, and I'm sure he had many moments with the director," she joked in the Brokaw interview.
