Joey+Rory won their first Grammy Award, nearly a year after Rory Feek's wife died of cervical cancer.

The album "Hymns That Are Important to Us" captured the Best Roots Gospel Album Grammy. It was Joey and Rory's final recording together and was released last Feb. 12, less than a month before Joey Feek died, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.

"My wife's dream was to make a hymns album, pretty much her whole life," Feek said in his acceptance speech during a pre-telecast of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, according to "Entertainment Tonight." "She didn't have a chance to do it until she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and so she sang her vocals in hotel rooms while she did chemo and radiation."

Feek said the hymns were songs his wife grew up with, according to USA Today. It was the second Grammy nomination for the husband-and-wife team in the past two years.

They were nominated last year for best country duo/group performance for their song "If I Needed You," according to Taste of Country.

"Right as the album came out, we watched the Grammys together and she said, 'If we get nominated next year, you have to promise me that you'll go.' And I said, 'I will,'" Feek told USA Today about his attendance at this year's award show.

"And she said, with a big smile on her face, 'You know, if you win, I'm going to know the answer before you will,' which is pretty special," Feek added.

Feek told "Entertainment Tonight" that he tried to share news of the win with his daughter Indiana.

"I just actually tried to FaceTime her," Feek said, according to "Entertainment Tonight." "But, she [might be] playing outside with her grandma. Joey's mother is with her, and also my daughters. And, she's just precious.

"She turns 3 next week, actually this Friday. So, it's a big week for us. Joey's family is coming down to our farm in Tennessee, and we're gonna have a birthday party," Feek added.

Rory Feek's memoir "This Life I Live," the same title of his popular blog where he chronicled his wife's ups and downs with cancer over the last few years, will be out Tuesday. The book will be a collection of essays about his relationship with his wife, USA Today said.
