Joe Walsh took on Jimmy Kimmel this week after the late night talk show host Monday talked about his newborn son's heart condition and surgery at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Kimmel, host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," strayed into the national health care insurance debate while talking about his son's battle during his monologue.

"If your baby is going to die and it doesn't have to, it shouldn't matter how much money you make," Kimmel said on his show. "I think that's something that, whether you're a Republican, or a Democrat or something else, we all agree on that, right?"

Walsh, the former Congressman who is now a syndicated radio talk show host, took issue with Kimmel's comments, posting on Twitter, "Sorry Jimmy Kimmel: your sad story doesn't obligate me or anybody else to pay for somebody else's health care."

Walsh faced a sizable backlash for the comment on Twitter.

Charles Hurt of the Washington Times, complained about Kimmel as well, writing in a column that the talk show host should just "shut up."

"He just had a kid and the kid nearly died and he wants you to know that if you are not for bloated federal bureaucracy, socialized medicine, higher taxes and tons of more debt piled onto your grandchildren, then you are not a 'decent person,'" Hurt wrote about Kimmel.

"Actually Jim, if you were a 'decent person,' you would shut your fat trap about partisan politics and go care for your kid, who just nearly died, you elitist creep," Hurt continued.
