The Miami Marlins are for sale, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and legendary New York Yankee Derek Jeter are reportedly among several bidders interested in buying the struggling Major League Baseball team.

Current owner Jeffrey Loria has indicated a desire to sell the team since last year, and Fox Business said a deal may be completed by the end of May.

Loria paid $158 million for the MLB club in 2002, but despite its position as one of the league’s worst, it is still expected to fetch anywhere from $800 million to $1.6 billion on the strength of the South Florida sports market, Fox Business said.

Jeb Bush is apparently one of three parties interested in buying the franchise; others include former New York Yankee Derek Jeter and a group of investors backed by Goldman Sachs, according to Fox Business.

Bush is reportedly teaming up with Citigroup to finance the bid, while Jeter is being represented by Morgan Stanley's former chief Gregory Fleming.

Charles Kushner and other members of the Kushner family had been interested in the team, according to Bleacher Report, but they backed off when it became public that Loria was being considered for an ambassadorship by Trump, to whom Jared Kushner is a close advisor.

Bush’s brother, former President George W. Bush, owned the Texas Rangers before becoming president.

Twitter wasn’t too keen on Jeb Bush’s bid for the Marlins, seeming to prefer that Jeter take over the team.
