Jen Psaki Brings Gaffe Expertise to New White House Job (Video)

Jen Psaki is being promoted to White House communications director after spending two years making gaffes as the spokeswoman for the State Department.

Psaki is probably best known for the "hashtag diplomacy" she rolled out during Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In a series of tweets, she posted pictures of herself holding a sign that read #UnitedForUkraine, and wrote that she hoped the Kremlin would "live by the promise of hashtag." The campaign was widely ridiculed.

Below are the top 5 moments where she bombed.

1. In October, Psaki could not name a single success brought about by Obama's strategy (or lack thereof) against the Islamic State — even with a pile of reports in front of her.

2. Just a few months before failing to highlight Obama's successes against ISIS, Psaki said she thought the president hadn't give himself enough credit for his foreign policy successes. When asked what credit she would give him in that regard, she failed to come up with an answer, and was laughed at by the press corps.

3. After Obama told Vox.com that terrorists had "randomly" shot people at a kosher grocery store in Paris, Psaki tried to keep up the spin, refusing to say that the attacks were anti-Jewish. She later backtracked on Twitter after being repeatedly called out by the press for her disingenuousness.

4. After Iran-backed Houthi rebels overthrew the U.S.-backed government of Yemen this year, the American embassy underwent an emergency evacuation. Psaki denied that the evacuation was "hasty" in an interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly, and denied that Obama administration's policies had failed there.

5. When asked if she could name "one tangible achievement" of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's 2010 Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR), Psaki simply failed.
