Jamie Lynn Spears Waves Knife Around to Stop a Fight (Video)

Singer Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of singer Britney Spears, grabbed a seven-inch knife to break up a fight at a Louisiana sandwich shop where she and her girlfriend were eating, as seen on video obtained by celebrity website TMZ.

The website obtained security footage from the Pita Pit in Hammond where a fight broke out in December between several men while Spears, 23, and a friend were dining. TMZ pointed out in the video where Spears was seated and how she calmly walked behind the counter and grabbed the knife in the middle of the melee.

"It's a wild scene – she pulls her (girlfriend) out of the scrum," reported TMZ. "Then, when the dudes keep going at it, Jamie Lynn, mother of a 6-year-old, struts behind the counter, grabs the knife and waves it around. While she never cuts anyone, the threat was enough to break up the fight."

"Chillest dude in the whole mess though is the pita clerk who calmly blocked Jamie while calling for backup," TMZ continued.

"Good idea? Maybe not, although it turned out ok," wrote Maria Puente of USA Today. "Lesson: Don't mess with those Louisiana girls."

Jamie Lynn Spears was the child star of Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101" before pursuing a music career in the footsteps of her older sister, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. She left her music career five years ago to raise a family before returning with her album "The Journey" in late May.

Spears told the Times-Picayune earlier this month that she is ready to refocus her career as a country singer now that she has an appreciation for motherhood.

"It wasn't about what career decision you make. It's about doing the right thing by my daughter as a person, as a mother," Spears said about leaving the music business at 17 when she became pregnant.

"The right thing was to focus on being a mother, especially at how young I was. I had to decide who I was going to be as a woman first. That was the first step," said Spears.

Spears told the newspaper that she has grown up as a singer, has written songs and has worked "behind the scenes" with veteran Nashville producer Corey Crowder and songwriter Rivers Rutherford.
