Jack Nicholson reportedly is set to star in a remake of “Toni Erdmann,” which will be the first feature film the legendary actor has taken part in since 2010.

Nicholson, 79, will be joined by Actress Kristin Wiig in the English-language remake by Paramount Pictures, Variety reported, citing unnamed sources.

This comes just a month after claims that Nicholson had retired from acting, CBS News reported.

“I think he is basically retired. I don’t want to speak for him, but he has done a lot of work and he has done very well as a person financially,” Peter Fonda, a friend of Nicholson’s, said at the BAFTA Tea Party in L.A. last month, according to Page Six.

“Sometimes people have a reason that you don’t know, and it’s not for me to ask,” Fonda added. “I don’t call him up and say, ‘Johnny’ – I call him Johnny Hop – ‘What are you doing?’ I would say, ‘How are you, how do you feel?’”

The last time Nicholson appeared in a feature film was when he played James L. Brooks in the drama, “How do You Know,” Variety noted.

The three-time Oscar-winner has been sought out for other films in recent years, including a role in “42” and in “The Judge.” However, Nicholson, who turns 80 this year, turned down both gigs.

The original “Toni Erdmann” uses the big screen to highlight issues like “globalism and feminism,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

The film tackles these issues by focusing on a “goofy-but-vulnerable” father figure, Winfried, and his “uptight” daughter, Ines, who’s also a businesswoman in the corporate world.

The father develops a relationship with his daughter in a very outlandish way; creating an alter ego as her CEO’s life coach.

The German film is up for an Oscar this year, according to Variety.

In a 2013 interview, Nicholson didn’t talk about any official retirement, but said that he prefers staying at home majority of the time, according to Page Six.

“I got tired of arguing with women about going to have dinners so I hired a cook,” Nicholson said, at the time. “The food is better at my house. But still, a lot of times ladies want to go out, and I’m happier in my dinky little house.”

According to CBS News, Nicholson has 12 Oscar nominations over the course of his long illustrious career, which is the most of any nominated actor in the history of the Academy Awards.
