Wednesday, 21 Aug 2013 06:42 PM

By Ken Mandel

An ISU bomb threat found Tuesday on a handwritten note forced the tightening of security at Illinois State University, but classes continued. No device was found.

Police told the station that they found the threat in a bathroom, while school officials said only that the message was found inside Schroeder Hall, ABC news reported.

Administrators haven't canceled classes, but security will be increased over the next few days during the investigation.

Access to the building will be limited. The FBI has been contacted as a precaution, ISU Chief of Staff Jay Groves told ABC.

In a message to students obtained by The Inquisitr, university President Timothy J. Flanagan wrote, in part:

"I am writing to alert you that Illinois State University Police are investigating a handwritten note found in a Schroeder Hall bathroom threatening that a bomb would be placed in Schroeder. We must take these communications seriously.

After receiving the communication, University police immediately contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies. While we have not cancelled classes at Schroeder Hall, we are taking multiple steps to ensure the safety of all students, faculty and staff members who use the building."
