The alternative rock band Incubus has signed with Island Records, and will put out two EPs next year, Billboard reported exclusively.

The band hasn’t been performing live for the last year because they were recording, and Mike Einziger told Billboard, “The recording has been fantastic, it’s been amazing.”

The band’s deal with Epic ended two years ago, and Einziger told Billboard they weren’t really planning on making this record. An EP is a longer recording than a single, but isn't enough for an album.

“Just having no horizon to look at was important for us. We needed that,” Einziger, co-writer and guitarist for the quintet, told the music site.

“We’re planning on releasing two installments that will total an album, two EPs,” Einziger told Billboard. “We’re hoping to put out the first one in February or March, then the summer.”

The band debuted its lead single “Trust Fall” at “Almost Acoustic Christmas” on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Fans can expect to hear some different and diverse music from Incubus.

“Most of the music we’ve written is high energy,” Einziger told Billboard. “[But] we’ve written our slowest song, but also our heaviest song.”

Fans greeted the news of the upcoming music with excitement.

Bustle.com’s headline said it all, “Incubus to Release 2 EPs in 2015, So Pardon Me While I Burst Into Flames.”
