'Human Barbie' Does Not Like Her Nickname, Thinks It's 'Degrading'

"Human Barbie" Valeria Lukyanova admitted to not liking her Internet nickname in a Skype interview with Cosmopolitan magazine this week.

“I don't think they are right,” Lukyanova said. “I think it's even a little degrading and insulting, but I'm used to it now, since that's what my work demands and this is precisely the image most fans request. So I have to comply with it because it's become part of my aesthetic image, but I don't like it.”

The nickname has even caused some strain on her family.

“When my mom compares me, we always quarrel. A lot. Because she doesn't understand what's wrong with it,” Lukyanova told the magazine.

Nonetheless, the Instagram sensation continues to label her photos with #Barbie.

“I'm the most popular [Barbie] copy in the world,” Lukyanova told Cosmo. “When people say ‘Barbie,’ it's clear that it's associated with me, not anyone else. So that's why I use that hashtag — so people can find me this way.”

Lukyanova also answered questions about her lifestyle.

In the past, she had said she lived off “light and air,” but Lukyanova admitted to eating a vegetarian, raw food diet.

Additionally, she shared that in the mornings, she runs for one hour a day and then spends three hours in the gym afterwards. Her workouts sometimes last up to six hours.

“For me, it is normal, [like how] other people brush their teeth and take a shower. For me, it is necessary to engage in weight-lifting,” Lukyanova said. “It's sort of [a] pleasure for me. My body thanks me for constant training and an increase in strength.”

The model also shared her opposition to Botox and refuted claims that she uses Photoshop.

Lukyanova spoke on her role as a spiritual guide and her ability to speak with aliens.

Valeria is “my earthly name,” Lukyanova said. “All the people who are close to me, they call me Amatue.”

She also does seminar teaching how to do out-of-body experiences.

“I try to put it into the framework of out-of-body travel — that is, when the spirit leaves the body and travels around other worlds,” Lukyanova said.

Lukyanova took the Internet by storm three years ago when Jezebel posted the Ukrainian model’s transformation to a doll-like appearance with long, blonde hair; made-up eyes; a small waist; and large breasts.
