Hedy Epstein, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor and vocal opponent of the Gaza blockade, was arrested after blocking the entrance to the St. Louis office of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon in the wake of the police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in the suburb of Ferguson.

"I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager," the German-born American said as she was put in plastic handcuffs and led away by officers for failure to disburse, reported the Times of Israel. "I didn’t think I would have to do it when I was 90. We need to stand up today so that people won’t have to do this when they’re 90."

Roughly 125 protesters chanted "National Guard has got to" as they marched with a large banner from downtown St. Louis' Kiener Plaza to the Wainwright building around 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Epstein's arrest – one of nine – was made at 4:30 p.m.

When the crowd arrived at the governor's office building, guards blocked their entrance, and they staged a sit-in outside of the building.

Several protestors posted photos of the event to Twitter.

The protestors demanded Nixon call off the National Guard from Ferguson, where peaceful protests over the shooting of Michael Brown have been beset by rioting after nightfall.

According to The Nation, the rally was organized by the Organization for Black Struggle which advocates that, "Effective policing does not need to include masses of military equipment, intimidation, and denial of constitutional rights."
