President Barack Obama received a standing ovation for his response to a heckler who interrupted his speech at the Jerusalem International Convention Center Thursday.

About 15 minutes into the president's speech that urged for peace in Middle East, a heckler shouted at him in Hebrew after he said, "given the ties between our countries, I believe your future is bound to ours."

The audience tried to shush the protester and then booed him, as the president playfully cupped his hand to his left ear as though to hear better and later shielded his eyes in an effort to see the culprit.

"This is part of the lively debate that we talked about. This is good," Obama said, prompting many in the crowd to applaud and to ultimately give him a standing ovation.

"I have to say, we actually arranged for that because it made me feel at home," the president joked. "You know, I wouldn't feel comfortable if I didn’t have at least one heckler."

A Fox News producer identified the heckler as Rabee Eid, a 24-year-old Palestinian with Israeli citizenship. The producer said that Eid shouted, "Obama, you are only here to support the Israelis. If you care about the Palestinians, what about the separation wall, what about Rachel Corrie?"

Obama has encountered many hecklers in the past. Republican South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson famously yelled "You lie" at Obama during an address the president was giving at a Joint Session of Congress in 2009. The outburst was in reference to the Obama's assertion that his proposals wouldn't provide health insurance to illegal immigrants.

Obama is visiting Israel for the first time, and the main agenda includes mending the damaged relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging Israel to again negotiate with the Palestinians, and discussing how to stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon.
