Greg Anthony, a CBS Sports analyst, has been accused of agreeing to pay an undercover officer $80 for sex.

Anthony was arrested Jan. 16 at a Washington, D.C., hotel after responding to an escort ad on Backpage.com that was posted by an undercover officer, The Washington Post reported.

CBS News and Turner Sports have suspended Anthony indefinitely. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2.

Anthony issued a statement, according to WJLA-TV: "I made a mistake. With this lapse of judgment, I embarrassed many, including myself. I will work to regain the trust that I have lost, and the first step is saying that I am sorry."

The station said he faces a misdemeanor solicitation charge, which could carry up to 180 days in jail.

Anthony, who lives in Del Ray Beach, Florida, was in the area to announce the Michigan State-Maryland men's basketball game in College Park, Maryland.

He played 11 seasons in the NBA from 1991-92 and 2001-02 for six teams, including the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers, USA Today reported.
