The Grammys red carpet got political on Sunday after artist Joy Villa was seen posing with a big smile, dressed in a tightly fitting gown with President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again," in big letters on the front.

The gown was red, white and blue, and on the back of it read, “Trump,” in huge letters, according to USA Today.

Andre Soriano, an immigrant from the Philippines, designed the “Make America Great Again” dress.

Soriano said the dress was created for the sole purpose of bringing about unity.

“It’s more so about love,” Soriano said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“We all live on this planet,” he said. “I’ve never been in the political arena. However, it’s just so crazy that people are getting beat up because they voted for Trump, or this and that, someone wants to bomb the White House…I am an American, I moved here from the Philippines and I highly believed in the trueness of what this country can bring. It’s about bringing people together, that’s the message.”

The singer’s dress was first covered by a white gown when she walked in front of the cameras on the red carpet, according to the Daily Mail. Moments later, Villa revealed the dress before posing for photos.

Villa would later take to Instagram to spread a message of love amid the mixed reactions she was receiving for wearing the Trump-themed gown.

“My whole artistic platform is about LOVE! I couldn’t be where I am today without the love and tenderness of those beautiful supporters and friends around me,” Villa wrote in an Instagram post under the image of her red and gold heart-shaped purse.

“Thank you I hope you enjoy tonight’s @grammysawards2017 and remember to forget your problems and focus on your future! You are infinite and beautiful and no one can stop you but you,” Villa wrote.

“So go out and celebrate yourself as a winner no matter what, together with those you adore!” the singer added.

Villa received both supportive and anti-Trump responses to the dress via Twitter.
