Golfers' Voyeurism Scandal: Arkansas Athletes Charged With Snapping Pics

University of Arkansas golfers Taylor Moore and Nicholas Echavarria were arrested and charged with felony video voyeurism this week after allegedly taking sexually explicit photos of an intoxicated woman last month.

It all started when victim reportedly went to stay at Moore’s house after a night out on April 11. She said she planned to go home the next morning because she was too drunk to drive. The victim claims she was then carried to Moore’s bedroom and given a shirt to sleep in, Sport Act reported.

The woman called police about a week after the incident saying she recalled seeing flashes of light as she slipped in and out of consciousness, The Associated Press reported. Police later seized the athletes’ phones and found sexually explicit pictures of the victim on Echavarria’s device.

She called police to report a rape, Arkansas Online reported, but no evidence of physical assault was reported.

Moore, 21, and Echavarria, 20, have been suspended indefinitely by the university, the AP said. Moore leads the golf team, which is set to compete in the NCAA men's golf regionals next week in New Haven, Connecticut.

Each is set to appear in court on June 1 after posting $2,500 bond.

Moore is a junior from Edmond, Oklahoma. Echavarria is a junior from Medellin, Colombia. The two initially denied taking the photos but later recanted.

Moore earned All-SEC Second Team honors on April 30 and is ranked 42nd in the country with an average of 71.8, according to Golf.com. Echavarria has an average score of 73.8.

Twitter users expressed disgust.
