The Golden Globe nominations were announced for 2015 with the film "Selma" – all but ignored by the Screen Actors Guild – picking up a nomination for best picture and "Birdman" grabbing the most movie nominations with seven.

"Birdman" was nominated for best movie comedy or musical, Michael Keaton for best actor, Emma Stone for best supporting actress, and Edward Norton for best supporting actor, just about cementing the film's favorite status in the Academy Award race.

"Selma," shut out at the SAG awards on Wednesday, received a best picture drama nod against heavyweight contenders "Boyhood," "Foxcatcher," "The Imitation Game," and "The Theory of Everything." David Oyelowo, who portrays Martin Luther King Jr. in "Selma" is also up for a best actor in a drama as well.

Talk also turned to the biggest movie snubs of the Golden Globes, including the Angelina Jolie-directed "Unbroken," which had received significant Oscar buzz to this point in the movie season, and Clint Eastwood's "American Sniper," which starred two-time Academy Award-nominee Bradley Cooper, noted Deadline.com.

Movies joining "Birdman" for best movie comedy or musical include "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Into the Woods," "Pride," and "St. Vincent."

Beyond Oyelowo, there were no nominee surprises for best actor in a movie drama, with Steve Carell, for "Foxcatcher;" Benedict Cumberbatch, for "The Imitation Game;" Jake Gyllenhaal, for "Nightcrawler;" and Eddie Redmayne, for "The Theory of Everything."

Likewise in the nominees for best actress in movie drama, which included Jennifer Aniston, for "Cake;" Felicity Jones, for "The Theory of Everything," Julianne Moore, for "Still Alice," Rosamund Pike, for "Gone Girl," and Reese Witherspoon, for "Wild."

On the television side of the Golden Globes, HBO led all networks with 15 nominations, according to USA Today.

Nominees for best television drama series include "The Affair" on Showtime, "Downton Abbey" on PBS, "Game of Thornes" on HBO, "The Good Wife" on CBS, and "House of Card" from NetFlix.

Nominees for best television comedy series or musical include "Girls" on HBO, "Jane the Virgin" on the CW, "Orange is the New Black" on NetFlix, "Silicon Valley" on HBO," and "Transparent" on Amazon.
