Rumors of a "Ghostbusters 3" sequel and/or an all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot have been churning throughout 2014 in celebration of the original film's 30th anniversary, and Bill Murray has finally weighed in on which women he thinks are up to the task.

"Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny — God, she's funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini [of Mad Men] a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there," he told The Toronto Star in an article published Sunday.

Murray was visiting Toronto for the city's annual International Film Festival, where he and co-star McCarthy's new film, "St. Vincent," had its world premiere.

Murray has eschewed all involvement in a "Ghostbusters 3" script said to be in development, but seemed to be behind the idea of an all-women reboot.

"I’m fine with it," he said. "I would go to that movie, and they’d probably have better outfits, too."

Director Paul Feig, who made the all-female blockbuster "Bridesmaids," has expressed a desire to make the reboot, but producer Ivan Reitman — who made the first two Ghostbuster movies — has stayed silent on all of the rumors piling up this year — keeping fans on pins and needles.

At the film festival, reporters asked McCarthy if she would be on-board with a reboot alongside Wiig, and she gave an unequivocal yes.

"I think that somebody is really trying to do it, but nobody has talked to me about it. Listen, if the people I think are doing it are doing it, I must never question them," she said.

"That's taking on a legend, a legendary movie. But I would do anything with those ladies, anything at all."
