A "Game of Thrones Compendium," a curated compilation of fan submissions, is set for publication this time next year, HBO announced this week.

The Emmy-winning fantasy drama has thus far been a Pandora's Box of fan art and merchandise – both the official and unofficial kind.

On the official side are items like "A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Companion Cookbook," sigil-printed beer steins, a card game, and Japan-style vinyl figurines. On the unofficial side: songs by American power metal band Seven Kingdoms, quote-emblazoned Tyrion t-shirts, countless paintings, and Lego figurines modified to look like the characters.

The new compendium seeks to sift through the latter category and crown the best of the best.

Submissions open Dec. 18 and run through March 28, 2015. A new website dedicated to the project, GameofThronesCompendium.com, has been launched to facilitate the submission of photos, audio and video files, as well as essays, recipes and more.

According to the site, "The Game of Thrones Compendium will be the world’s first collaborative, crowd-sourced compendium. The end result will be a printed and bound edition. Every entry chosen for inclusion in the printed book will receive a copy with their name listed as an author."

The best submissions will be chosen for inclusion in the final bound book by a council of editors, tasked with identifying those that best "embrace and enhance the GoT experience."

According to The Wall Street Journal, "The Council consists of experts in their related fields who just so happen to also be 'Game of Thrones' fans: Gerald Brom writer and illustrator of Brom Art; Arthur Chu, culture blogger, The Daily Beast; Tom Colicchio, celebrity chef and judge on Bravo’s 'Top Chef'; Nina Garcia, creative director of Marie Claire magazine and judge on Lifetime’s 'Project Runway'; Kevin Hatch, writer and moderator, Reddit r/gameofthrones; Greg Hildebrandt, fantasy and science fiction artist; Laura Hudson, entertainment and culture writer for Wired magazine and others; and Zack Luye, author at 'Game of Thrones' fan site WatchersontheWall.com."
