Fans of “Frozen” will get a chance to see their favorite characters in “Frozen Fever,” a short film that will play in theaters before Disney’s “Cinderella” movie in March 2015.

Walt Disney Animation Studios announced the short film on its blog Wednesday, ramping up fan excitement to see their favorite characters, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf.

The super-popular “Frozen” film has earned more than $1.27 billion globally, and although many are waiting for confirmation about a sequel, this short film may work to tide fans over until that happens.

On its blog, Disney said “Frozen Fever” will be about Anna’s birthday. “Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy power may put more than just the party at risk,” the blog said.

The short will be directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and produced by Peter Del Vecho and Aimee Scribner. It also will include an “all-new original song” by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the duo who wrote the Academy Award-winning "Let It Go."

Fans of the movie may be excited about the short "Frozen Fever," but they’re anxiously awaiting news on whether a sequel is in the works.

Earlier this week, “Frozen” star Idina Menzel implied that one was in the works, but she later recanted, telling the "Today" show, "You know, I have no idea. I just assumed that because it's so successful, that's what they're up to!"
