The suspect in a Fresno shooting spree that left three people dead on Tuesday has been arrested.

The suspect, 39-year-old Kori Ali Muhammad, allegedly wanted to kill as many people as he could after a warrant was issued for his arrest involving the murder of a security guard last week, according to Fox News.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Muhammad "decided he was going to kill more people" once he realized police were looking for him, Fox News reported.

"These individuals who were chosen today did not do anything to deserve what they got," Dyer said. "These were unprovoked attacks by an individual that was intent on carrying out homicides today. He did that."

Muhammad, who goes by the nickname "Black Jesus," allegedly began his shooting spree at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning when a person who was sitting in a PG&E utility truck according to Fox News. A second person was shot on Fulton Street and a third in the Catholic Charities parking lot.

The three killed were white men. The security guard who was killed last week was a white man as well.

Authorities described the shootings as "random" and "unprovoked," but said the motive was racial hatred, according to The Washington Post.

The suspect had taken to Facebook to express his hatred of white people and antigovernment sentiments in different postings.

"This is a sad day for us all," Mayor Lee Brand said in a statement. "My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. None of us can imagine what they must be going through."
