Former child star and musician Frankie Muniz, 27, said he suffered a mini stroke this week, the second medical emergency the "Malcolm in the Middle" star survived in a year.

Frankie Muniz revealed the mini stroke to the public Monday through Twitter, according to The Los Angeles Times.

TMZ.com reported that Muniz suffered another mini stroke on Nov. 30 last year. That stroke happened just days before his band Kingsfoil was set to go on tour, according to the celebrity website.

According to the website Medical News Today, a stroke results when lack of oxygen to the brain kills off brain cells. The condition is caused by an obstruction in the blood flow, or the rupture of an artery that feeds the brain.

The medical website said the person suffering a stroke may suddenly lose the ability to speak, there may be memory problems, or one side of the body can become paralyzed.

The Los Angeles Times and TMZ said Muniz had not revealed anything beyond the tweet about his current condition. Last year, he told People.com that the first mini stroke forced him to take some needed time off.

"I consider myself to be very healthy," Muniz told People.com last December, saying he started suffering the stroke while driving to house of the mother of his fiancé Elycia Marie Turnbow. "I thought I had something on the visor of my helmet. I couldn't focus out of my right eye. By the time I got to her mom's house I pretty much had no vision in my right eye."

Muniz admitted to People.com that because he didn't know about the symptoms of a stroke, he was confused about what was happening to him.

"I was really dizzy and in a lot of pain in my whole body and my head," Muniz said. "My hands were numb. I didn't really have good balance and I was almost dropping the bike. I never had this before. I was like 'What's going on?'"
