No Time for National Anthem, Fans Told; They Sing it Anyway

Fans took it upon themselves to sing the national anthem at the NCAA Softball World Series Tournament on Saturday after announcers said it would be skipped due to time constraints.

According to SportingNews.com, the Ragin' Cajuns fans belted out "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the third game of the day. They were reportedly upset that event organizers, who arranged for a singer before the first game, hadn't planned to repeat the anthem before subsequent games.

After asking event organizers to reverse their decision, the fans gathered at Lamson Park in Lafayette, Louisiana, took it upon themselves to sing it loud and proud.

As the chorus started in, the players took notice, stood upright, and faced the flag.

Acadiana Advocate sports writer Luke Johnson was in attendance, captured the patriotic sing along on his smartphone, and soon tweeted it out to the world.
