Eva Green's Racy Poster for 'Sin City' Sequel Banned by MPAA

A poster featuring French actress Eva Green is too racy, the Motion Picture Association of America has ruled in regard to the ad for the sequel "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For."

On the poster, Green, 31, is wearing a see-through white robe that leaves little to the imagination.

The MPAA said the poster was banned "for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple areola circle visible through sheer gown," the New York Post's Page Six reports.

Green plays the femme fatale Ava Lord in the sequel to the 2005 original "Sin City" movie.

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, is scheduled for release in theatres Aug. 22.

While the banned poster has received its share of attention, the film’s distributors, the Weinstein Company, tweeted a different photo of Green on Saturday.

Representatives of the Weinstein Company are reported to be negotiating with the MPAA for a modified poster of Green before the movie’s August release. In the meantime, Anne Thompson writes in Indiewire that the Weinstein Company’s release of the racy poster was a “calculated move.”

“They've been playing the MPAA rating card with their upcoming ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ from the beginning,” Thompson wrote. “Their latest move is to plant a story — here, a sizzling poster of star Eva Green revealing too much of her breasts for the comfort of the MPAA — with Page Six, and send it out as a press release.”

The Weinstein Company has released five other posters of the movie’s stars: Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, and Jessica Alba.

Green got her start in movies in 2003 with “The Dreamers” and has since starred in such movies as “Casino Royale,” “Penny Dreadful,” “300: Rise of an Empire,” and “The Salvation.”
