Erin Andrews was awarded $55 million Monday in Nashville as jurors in the hotel peephole tampering case agreed with the sportscaster that the man who secretly filmed her in 2008 should be held responsible as well as the local hotel management group and its owner.

Andrews, a Fox Sports television broadcaster and co-host of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," filed a lawsuit six years ago against Michael David Barrett, the man accused of recording her through an altered peephole at the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University in 2008, according to The Tennessean. She also sued the owner and operator of the hotel.

After hearing emotional testimony from Andrews herself, the jury on Monday found Barrett 51 percent at fault in the case, meaning he will be responsible for paying 51 percent of the $55 million.

The jury ruled that hotel owner West End Hotel Partners and its management company, Windsor Capital Group, were 49 percent at fault and should pay the remaining percentage, the newspaper said.

Andrews posted a statement on Twitter after the verdict was delivered.

Defense attorney Marc Dedman had other thoughts.

"We're disappointed with the outcome," he told reporters after the verdict, according to Fortune. Dedman added that he would hold talks with his clients before deciding whether to file an appeal.

Defense attorneys argued during the trial that Barrett was solely responsible for his actions and that there was no way the hotel operators or owners could have foreseen his actions, which included altering the hotel peephole and requesting a room adjoining Andrews'.

TMZ reported that the hotel will likely appeal and Andrews could end up settling, which could leave her with about $11 million.

"The legal experts we've spoken with all say the likelihood is the case will settle . . . for somewhere around $20 million on Marriott's part," the celebrity gossip site reported. "Now the lawyers' fees. In lawsuits where a case actually goes to trial, lawyers typically get around 40 percent of the recoverable judgment."

"So, if Erin settles with Marriott for $20 million, the lawyers would get $8 million, leaving her with $12 million. And Erin's responsible for costs in preparing the case, which we're told could approach $1 million, leaving her with $11 million."
