Eric Trump said his sister Ivanka Trump likely influenced their father to carry out the recent Syrian strike.

President Donald Trump said the decision to carry out a strike on Syria last week was sparked by terrible images from a chemical weapons attack in Syria that killed at least 87 people, including more than 30 children, according to CNN.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Trump's son Eric, who's running the family business while his father is in Washington, said he's "sure" Ivanka encouraged their father to issue the missile strike.

"Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence. I'm sure she said: 'Listen, this is horrible stuff,'" Eric Trump told The Telegraph.

"My father will act in times like that. And by the way, he was anti doing anything with Syria two years ago," Eric Trump added. "Then a leader gasses their own people, women and children. At some point America is the global leader and the world's superpower has to come forward and act and they did with a lot of support of our allies and I think that's a great thing."

Eric Trump said he could tell his father was "deeply affected" by the images of the wounded children in the aftermath of the chemical weapons attack, which took place in northeast Syria.

"I stay out of politics and I stay out of the administration but you can tell he was deeply affected by those images of the children," he told the Telegraph.

"There isn't a single decent person in the world who saw those images and saw those kids being sprayed down by hoses to keep their skin from burning, who wasn't deeply affected by what happened over there," Eric Trump said. "It was horrible. These guys are savages and I'm glad he responded the way he responded."

Ivanka, who is married to Jared Kushner who also has a role in the administration, spoke about her role in the White House in a recent interview with CBS.

During the interview, she that said while her responsibilities are centered on the economic empowerment of women and education, she has the flexibility to chime in on other issues and provide her father with guidance, at times.

"I'll weigh in with my father on the issues I feel strongly about," she said, according to CBS.
