Enrique Marquez could face up to 25 years behind bars after signing off on a plea agreement saying he provided the rifles used to kill 14 people in a San Bernardino terror attack in 2015.

Marquez, 25, is expected to appear in court in Riverdale, California, on Thursday to plead guilty to providing the “high-powered” rifles that were involved in the December 2015 attack that also left 22 people wounded, The Associated Press reported.

Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik were both killed in a gunfight with police just hours after committing the mass killing.

Prosecutors said there’s no evidence that Marquez participated in the terror attack, but he also pleaded guilty to assisting Farook in plotting other mass killings that were never carried out, according to the AP.

The earlier plots are believed to be the basis of the 2015 massacre, according to 89.3 KPCC. Those plots were for attacks at Riverside City College and the 91 Freeway.

“While his earlier plans to attack a school and freeway were not executed, the planning clearly laid the foundation for the 2015 attack on the Inland Regional Center,” U.S. Attorney Eileen M. Decker said in a statement, according to 89.3 KPCC. “When this defendant pleads guilty, all four individuals charged, including three of the shooters’ family members, will be convicted.”

Prosecutors said that while Marquez didn’t have knowledge of the San Bernardino terror attack prior to it happening, he admitted to being a “straw buyer,” purchasing two rifles that Farook used in the attack on his colleagues.

At the time, Marquez said he bought the weapons because “his appearance was Caucasian, while Farook looked Middle-Eastern,” The Press-Enterprise noted.

The day after the San Bernardino incident, Marquez dialed 911.

“My neighbor. He did the San Bernardino shooting…,” Marquez told the operator, according to The Press-Enterprise. “The (expletive) used my gun in the shooting.”

After that, Marquez went on to check himself into a mental health facility for treatment and rehab before he was arrested an interrogated by the FBI.

Marquez reportedly admitted his participation in the Riverside mass killing plots during questioning.
