Elsa Arrest Warrant: Ice Queen Wanted by Winter-Weary Kentucky Town

An arrest warrant for Queen Elsa, from Disney's "Frozen," was issued Wednesday by the town of Harlan, Kentucky, after a walloping from winter weather.

The joking post on Facebook went viral: “All points bulletin!!! HPD has issued an arrest warrant for Queen Elsa of Arendelle. Suspect is a blonde female last seen wearing a long blue dress and is known to burst into song ‘Let it Go!’ As you can see by the weather she is very dangerous. Do not attempt to apprehend her alone.”

Like all responsible law enforcement, the Harlan Police immediately added a second Facebook post warning that, “all kidding aside,” the weather has been dangerous and cautioned residents in Harlan to be careful.

Though Elsa has evaded capture and the wintry weather continued, the warrant did capture the imagination of the internet. The police department posted Wednesday, “Unreal that this got so much attention! But thanks everyone. We are happy we got some weather awareness and thankful for the support.”

The police department’s funny Facebook posting came just a week after the Merrimack, New Hampshire, police department put out an arrest warrant for Punxsatawney Phil, the groundhog who refused to put an end to winter.

On the department’s Facebook page, someone with a good sense of humor wrote, “We have received several complaints from the public that this little varmint is held up in a hole, warm and toasty. He told several people that Winter would last 6 more weeks, however he failed to disclose that it would consist of mountains of snow! If you see him, do not approach him as he is armed and dangerous. Call Merrimack Police, we will certainly take him into custody!”

Some came to the groundhog’s defense, saying he had no responsibility to issue weather warnings. At least one other person blamed Queen Elsa, and someone even pulled Brian Williams into fray. “He also attacked Brian Williams once with an RPG,” the person wrote.
