Donald Trump Jr. thinks his father has been humbled by the process of running for president and being elected to that office, the younger Trump said in an interview with MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough.

“I think he’s been humbled by the whole process,” Trump Jr. said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. His father might not show it outwardly, Trump Jr. said, calling the process of running for president “brutal.” “Every five minutes there’s a high, and a low … it almost desensitizes you to any emotion, if that makes any sense.”

“Even though this is two months ago that we found out that we had won, really getting here yesterday, going to Arlington, seeing these things, the history, everything, the magnitude of it all … it really took that long to set in,” Trump Jr. continued in the MSNBC interview. “I was wondering when it’s going to finally hit me that hey, this is real, and it was yesterday. I know he’s experienced a lot of that.”

Trump Jr. has taken over running Trump’s many businesses and said it has been a transitioning process for both of them into new roles.

“He’s just ready to get to work,” Trump Jr. concluded.

Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States around noon on Friday after winning the majority of electoral votes, but losing the popular vote to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. In his inaugural speech, Trump stressed unity and said that America would be “unstoppable” if all of its people worked together for its benefit.

Oprah Winfrey drew criticism in November from some online after saying people should "take a deep breath" and suggesting that Trump had been humbled by the election.

"I just saw the two of them together, I will say this: I just saw President-elect Trump with President Obama in the White House and it gave me hope," Winfrey told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "To hear President-elect Trump say that he had respect for President Obama, it felt that he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience."

Axios writers Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei expressed similar sentiments this week, saying Trump seemed "unusually subdued" during a recent interview.

"Trump seemed, dare we say, humbled by recent intelligence briefings on global threats," they wrote.
