Daniel Radcliffe surprised a witness when the "Harry Potter" actor stopped to help a victim after suspects riding a moped slashed him in the face during a robbery in London last Friday.

Radcliffe, 27, was among several people who ran over to assist the man in Chelsea's King's Road area, who was reportedly attacked, London's Evening Standard reported. The suspects stole the victim's Louis Vuitton bag while cutting him in the face, the publication noted.

David Videcette, a former police officer, said he saw the suspects earlier acting suspiciously and started to follow them. He told the Evening Standard he tried to stop the suspects from escaping after the incident but they raced through several red lights on their moped.

Videcette said he returned to the victim and found Radcliffe comforting him, reported the Evening Standard.

"It was a bit of the surreal moment," Videcette told the publication. "I said 'you're Daniel Radcliffe,' and he replied, 'I am.' He was a really nice bloke; a lot of stars wouldn't have stopped to help. The victim was very, very shaken up."

A representative for Radcliffe confirmed the actor's presence but declined to comment on the incident, reported the Evening Standard.

Metropolitan Police issued a statement on the incident, reporting that it happened about 6:10 p.m. on Hortensia Road, the Daily Mail reported.

"The victim – a man in his 50s – was walking in the road when two people riding a moped snatched his bag before riding off," Metropolitan Police said, according to the Daily Mail. "The victim suffered a cut to the face during the incident.

"Officers from Kensington and Chelsea investigate(d). There have been no arrests made and inquiries continue," the statement continued.

The incident came before a 31-year-old man was stabbed to death by armed men riding a moped in southeast London, according to the BBC News. The man reportedly was stabbed during a fight where shots were fired.

The incidents were the latest in a string of crimes where the suspects were using mopeds or scooters as getaway vehicles, per the BBC News. The incidents also follow a rash of acid attacks last weeks, with the suspects using mopeds.
