Sprint Cup driver Danica Patrick is losing the NASCAR sponsorship of GoDaddy, but the racer will likely continue with a personal services agreement with the Internet domain company.

GoDaddy, Patrick’s primary sponsor, announced Wednesday that it will not return to NASCAR after this season, USA Today reported.

Patrick, 33, is in the final year of a three-year contract with Stewart-Haas Racing, but the racer and SHR officials have said they hope she will return in 2016. GoDaddy and Patrick hope to continue a personal services contract.

"I think initially the first thought is 'bad' because it feels like it's going away, but then I have to remember that it's not really going away for me, it's just going away in the way that it was," Patrick told USA Today Sports. "I really feel like there's really a lot of good work to do. We've really grown up together."

The Internet domain company has sponsored Patrick for her entire career, Fox Sports reported.

"We love Danica and all she does to empower and inspire people, especially women, which is why we are working to keep her in the GoDaddy family," GoDaddy chief marketing officer Phil Bienert said, according to Fox Sports.

"We have the utmost respect for Stewart-Haas Racing, and they've been phenomenal partners. In fact, NASCAR has been a tremendous domestic platform to help us achieve an 81 percent aided brand awareness domestically, but at this stage, we need a range of marketing assets that reach a more globally-diverse set of customers. The fact Danica is having a record-setting season makes it tough to leave this motorsports sponsorship, without a doubt."

Patrick has appeared in 13 Super Bowl commercials for GoDaddy, holding a record for most celebrity appearances in Super Bowl ads, The Associated Press said.

"I'm sad. I'm a little surprised and I'm sad," Patrick told the AP. "But to say I didn't imagine this was not a scenario would be a lie. It's bittersweet. It's going to be really weird to think I won't drive the bright green, can't-miss-it car next year."
