Nazi Uniform Dad Asks Court for Visitation With His Son

By    |   Tuesday, 04 Jun 2013 08:22 AM

A New Jersey dad who was criticized years ago for naming his oldest son Adolf Hitler appeared in court Monday in full Nazi uniform to try and convince a judge to allow him visitation with his youngest son.

Heath Campbell, 40, strolled into the Hunterdon County Family Court in Flemington, N.J., Monday to fight for visitation of his 2-year-old Heinrich, named for Hitler's right-hand man, Heinrich Himmler.

"Prisoners get to see their children, murderers get to see their children, what's so horrible about being a Nazi?" Campbell said to the New York Post. "I just want to be a dad. I just want to prove I'm a good father, because I am… So what if I'm a Nazi, who cares?"

Campbell and his now-estranged wife Deborah had their four children taken away from them in 2010 after charges of violence in their Holland Township home surfaced. Police had been weary of the couple ever since 2008, when they publically complained after a local ShopRite refused to write 7-year-old Adolf Hitler's name on a birthday cake.

The children — which also include two daughters, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, 6, and Honzlynn Jeannie Campbell, 5 — were placed in foster care. The three oldest have since been adopted, but Campbell is still fighting for visitation with his youngest son.

Asked whether he felt wearing the Nazi uniform, complete with a swastika patch on the arm and leather boots, into court would help or hurt his case, Campbell said it depended on the judge.

"If they're good judges and they're good people, they'll look within, not what's on the outside," he told NBC Philadelphia.

The outcome of Monday's court hearing is not likely to be released to the public, as all family court cases in New Jersey are sealed.
