Corona Extra beer has been voluntarily recalled in select 12-ounce clear bottles after finding defects in certain bottles that could cause bottles to break apart.

The suspected bottles come from one of four glass plants run by one of Corona's vendors, said a company statement. The statement said it believes one percent of the bottles produced at the plant were affected.

"We are troubled by this development and are working proactively with our distributors, retailers and consumers to resolve this situation as quickly as possible," said Bill Hackett, president of the Constellation Brands Beer Division.
