Ciara Webb Suicide Followed by Soccer Teammate Cady Housh

The two suicides within days of each other of Ciara Webb and Cady Housh – both junior soccer players at a suburban Kansas City high school – have rocked a community that is now searching for answers.

Webb committed suicide at her home about 4 p.m. Friday. According to her obituary in the Kansas City Star, she was a member of the Olathe Northwest High School soccer team and well as the school's track team.

Webb's friends posted tributes and memories on social media, including her soccer teammate Housh, who on Sunday posted on Twitter, "Worst f**king weekend of my life," according to People magazine.

About 8:15 p.m., Housh stepped in front on an oncoming train, according to People. She was transported to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

The Star reported it was unclear how close Webb and Housh were, but Housh posted a note on social media before her death suggesting that they were friends.

"For almost 2 years we became close," Housh wrote about Webb. "I'm going to miss all the times we were both hurt but still cheering on the sidelines. I'm going to miss the times we walked together to our classes. … (Olathe Northwest) will never be the same without you. Rest in peace baby girl."

In a letter to Olathe Northwest parents on Monday, according to KCTV, Principal Gwen Poss urged parents to have "a heartfelt conversation with your student about these tragedies and specifically about suicide. Have this conversation with your son or daughter tonight – you know them best. Ask them how they are feeling, be non-judgmental, and avoid any gossip related to details of the deaths or causes."

Poss said the school will make counselors available for students if they feel they need to talk about the incident.
