Former “Bachelor” star Chris Soules allegedly left the scene of a fatal car crash in Iowa, which led to his arrest early Tuesday morning.

According to police reports, Soules’ truck struck a tractor from behind at around 8:20 p.m. CT, sending both vehicles into nearby ditches, USA Today reported.

The driver of the tractor was later identified as Kenneth E. Mosher, age 66, of Aurora. An ambulance took Mosher to a nearby hospital after the crash and pronounced him dead there.

According to Iowa State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Scott Bright’s statement to the Des Moines Register, Soules left the truck and went north on foot, where he was found and arrested. He was taken to the hospital first and then to jail.

Soules was later released from jail after his mother Linda posted bond, the Des Moines Register reported. Court documents said Soules was in possession of alcohol or alcoholic beverage containers, but did not say he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Soules must be supervised, cannot leave Iowa without the court’s permission, and may be electronically monitored, the Register reported.

Besides the 2015 season of “The Bachelor,” Soules also appeared on the 2014 season of “The Bachelorette,” “Dancing With the Stars,” and Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America,” the Register said. Soules has used his celebrity to advocate for agriculture issues.

Soules said in a statement that he was “devastated” to hear that Mosher had passed away, ET Online reported. Soules has a long record of at least 15 vehicle-related incidents, including drunk driving, speeding, running stop signs and unlawful use of his license, ET Online reported.
