Pratt, who is married to actress Anna Faris, said his faith was redefined when his 3-year-old son, Jack, was born nine weeks premature in August 2012 and spent a month in intensive care.

“We were scared for a long time. We prayed a lot,” Pratt told People magazine in 2014. “It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it.”

In a 2014 interview with Esquire, Pratt detailed becoming a Christian at age 19 after an encounter with a man in Hawaii who inspired his faith by telling him Jesus sent him to tell Pratt he was destined for great things. A month later, a director discovered him while he was waiting tables, and he moved to California to star in “Cursed Part III.”

Twitter users shared mixed reactions to the actor’s expression of faith.
