Caitlyn Jenner slammed President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender persons in the U.S. military by publicly asking him “what happened to your promise to fight for them?”

Jenner, who kept her conservative-leaning positions after transitioning from athletic hero and Kardashian family patriarch, has been a reliable go-to on Republican outer limits on LGBT issues.

Jenner’s tweet was among a heavy social media back-and-forth since Wednesday when Trump announced – by tweeting, naturally – that the government would not allow transgender people to serve in the military, saying the military could not be burdened “with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

Trump’s posts were met with massive public backlash, with celebrities and LGBT supporters blasting the president.

Trump retaliated with sarcasm.

“Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.”

That prompted Jenner’s response about the 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans now in the U.S. military “fighting for all of us.”

Jenner later posted a detailed blogpost on her website in which she said every American should be outraged by Trump’s decision, adding that it was disrespectful to people wearing the country’s uniform.

“This half-baked idea puts all of our service members in harm’s way. Does President Trump intend to just pull 15,000 people out of every critical position to which they are currently assigned? That would disrupt core military missions around the world and needlessly endanger our troops.”

Jenner mentioned studies that show transgender people were more likely to enlist in the military.

“I can testify to the trans community’s incredible resilience and perseverance in the face of enormous discrimination and hate. We are strong, we are beautiful, and we will win. The President must ask himself which side of history he will be on — and reverse his position immediately. America’s 15,000 trans service members and 134,000 veterans are much braver than you, Mr. Trump; my allegiance is with them and our country, not you.”

Meanwhile, others continued to pile on Trump.
