Hannity: Cain's Staff Flubbed in Handling Furor

By    |   Tuesday, 01 Nov 2011 04:06 PM

Herman Cain’s campaign staff is to blame for the political fallout stemming from vague sexual harassment allegations against the Republican candidate for president, Sean Hannity said on his radio show today.

“They bumbled and fumbled for days in terms of getting their response straight,” Hannity said, noting that Cain “knew this was coming” before the story broke Sunday. “This battle continues to dominate the news in large part because I think the campaign screwed it up, and they should have handled it better.”

Cain, a tea party favorite, is a likeable man whose political future is in doubt because of a vague news story that lacks the victims’ names, their specific complaints, and reporters’ sources, Hannity said.

“The problem for Herman Cain is this goes right to the core of one of his greatest assets in this campaign, and that is his likeability,” he said. “This is why charges like this can be so sinister.”

Hannity, who has not endorsed a GOP candidate, said he has made a point of befriending all of them and interpreting their views for listeners.

“It is a good thing to know or have knowledge of people’s character when it’s being ravaged 24/7 by a liberal, pundit class that seems to hate nothing more, in this case, than an African-American man who happens to be conservative,” he said. “It happens with regularity.”
