A Florida company will release the Trans Am Bandit Edition, just 77 of them, which are Chevy Camaros rebuilt to resemble the car made famous in the “Smokey and the Bandit” movies and signed by actor Burt Reynolds.

The 80-year-old Reynolds even made a video to endorse his old ride.

Trans Am Worldwide displayed the black-and-gold car at the New York International Auto Show, Motor Trend reported, noting that the Bandit will retail for $125,000 to $150,000, depending on options.

Those options include a T-top roof, a front-hinged hood, a hood-mounted tachometer, interior upgrades, brake upgrades, and a choice of three engines, with up to 840 horsepower, Motor Trend wrote.

Pontiac ceased production of the Trans Am in 2009. Trans Am Worldwide’s remakes of the 1977 model made famous in the movies were introduced in a video narrated by Reynolds.

“It was hot in every way. It was a love story. Most guys have a love story with their cars,” Reynolds said in the video.

“To see ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ is like you remember your first kiss. You always remember where you saw the movie, who who you were with,” Trans Am Worldwide co-founder Tod Warmack said. The movie inspired a love of Trans Ams among himself, his brother, his uncle, and his father, who owned close to 50 for the cars between them.

The new Trans Am Bandit Edition is built on the Chevy Camaro SS, with features including split grill design, quad square headlines, ground effects, snowflake wheels and the classic Firebird decal on the hold, the Inquisitr reported.

The interior features a custom leather, retro-style gauges, a Bandit logo and Reynolds’ signature.

Twitter users expressed enthusiasm about the car.
