Brian McClellen Killed Train Surfing? Last Words Cast Doubt

By    |   Wednesday, 12 Nov 2014 11:29 AM

Train surfing is now being ruled out in the death of Brian McClellen, a 21-year-old actor and model wannabe who was found badly burned on top of a train heading to New York City from Greenwich, Connecticut.

Transit agency investigators initially thought McClellen ended up on top of the Metro North train on Sunday morning as part of the daredevil stunt, but they were able to talk with him at Westchester Medical Center before he died on Monday and they changed their minds, according to WABC-TV.

Authorities declined to say the reason McClellen gave for being on top of the train.

Investigators were trying to determine how McClellen ended up there about 5 a.m. and if he came in contact with a mechanical arm called a pantograph that draws power from the 12,500-volt overhead wires, Reuters reported.

McClellen was found with burns on 85 percent of his body. A train crew had to put out flames on his body with a fire extinguisher before transporting him to the hospital.

"I kind of knew if he lived through the night it would be a supreme miracle," Ryan Colby, an agent for McClellen, told the New York Post. "I'm a realist and was prepared for this."

Colby told the New York Daily News that McClellen had "a bit of a daredevil streak" in him.

"It's part of what you do when you're a boy between 17 and 25 years old and you think you're invincible," said Colby. He said McClellen's roommate in Manhattan informed him that he died Monday morning.

Reuters reported that McClellen had recently moved to the New York City area from Cleveland to pursue an acting and modeling career.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported he was a 2012 graduate of suburban North Royalton High School.
