Bob Bashara, a "bondage master" who arranged the murder of his wife so that he could focus on restraining and dominating with other women, has been sentenced to life in prison.

A former Rotary Club president in a Detroit suburb who was known in bondage circles as "Master Bob," Bashara showed no remorse on Thursday and repeatedly declared his innocence, reported The Associated Press. He told the judge, "I loved my Jane dearly."

A sentence of life in prison without parole was automatic after a jury last month convicted the 57-year-old of first-degree murder.

Jane Bashara was strangled at the couple's Grosse Pointe Park home in 2012. Prosecutors said Bob Bashara coerced a handyman into killing her so he could be with other women.

Judge Vonda Evans gave a blistering rebuke, calling the defendant a "master of manipulation" with a "dark heart."
