A video by an African-American executive working for Donald Trump pushes back at the mythology that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is a bigot and misogynist, according to a Daily Mail Online interview on Wednesday.

Lynne M. Patton, 43, vice president of the Eric Trump Foundation and a senior assistant to the Trump family, is in charge of identifying organizations to donate to, along with helping "coordinate Eric's, Don Jr's, and Ivanka's initiatives with their CEO father and his team," noted interviewer Ronald Kessler.

The video has been viewed more than 3.1 million times since it was posted on May 2 and in it Patton says she was compelled to speak after Eric Trump's wife Lara reportedly received a letter filled with white powder initially feared to be Anthrax.

"Only up until now, it's all just been opposing campaign rhetoric and paid protesters," Patton says in the video. "But then a letter came . . . And I thought to myself: Who does this person think he is to threaten to kill someone else's family . . . any family. This family. My family. All because of a political race? A campaign?"

Patton says in the video that the Trump family has supported her through her struggle with substance abuse.

"The Trump family has never been anything but compassionate and supportive of my continued struggle," Patton said in the interview about the video. "I think everybody knows that recovery is an ongoing battle. It would have been a much easier decision for them to just dismiss me and terminate my employment and all association with me, friendship or otherwise. But they did not do that. They chose to stand by me, and for that I love them."

According to her Eric Trump Foundation biography, Patton graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in English Literature and attended Quinnipiac University School of Law.

"As (vice president), Lynne works in tandem with the executive director/president of the foundation to oversee all operations, volunteers, events, outreach, social media, vendors and corporate partnerships," said the biography. "She assists with the planning of all major fundraising events for (foundation) and helps acquire celebrity entertainment and high-end donations."

Kessler said Patton had turned down interview request on several programs on Fox News to talk about the video.
