Bill de Blasio is facing a federal investigation into whether the New York City mayor and his aides gave favorable treatment to contributors to his 2013 election campaign.

The mayor reportedly met with federal prosecutors and FBI agents Friday at his attorney's Midtown law offices, WCBS-TV reported. It was not clear if the investigation centered solely on de Blasio or other members of his administration.

WCBS-TV said it had video of de Blasio getting together with his attorneys on Wednesday and Thursday possibly in preparation for the Friday's meeting. The mayor in the past has denied any wrongdoing and has done everything with the advice of his legal team.

Prosecutors are targeting donations made to de Blasio's now defunct nonprofit as well as his mayoral campaign, the New York Daily News reported. The newspaper said the mayor will meet with authorities without any immunity protections, but added that he had not been subpoenaed testify.

Newsday reported that federal and state officials have hounded de Blasio for months with investigations that looked into his fundraising. Part of the investigation is centered around whether Long Island businessman Harendra Singh received favorable treatment on a restaurant lease with the city.

Singh has been indicted on corruption charges on Long Island and has been hammering out a cooperation deal with prosecutors there and in Manhattan, Newsday reported. Federal prosecutors also are looking into matters ranging from the de Blasio administration's role in a controversial real estate deal to its stance on carriage horses and a trash-bag contract.

De Blasio met with investigators from the Manhattan district attorney to answer questions relating to a grand jury probe on whether his political team broke the law by giving donations to county committees in an effort to flip control of the state senate to Democrats, Newsday wrote.

WCBS-TV reported that de Blasio was fined nearly $48,000 last December for violating spending rules during his 2013 campaign for mayor.
