The five original leads of the CBS Comedy “Big Bang Theory” have offered to take $100,000 per episode pay cuts in order to help supporting female actors Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch achieve greater parity in pay.

Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar, and Simon Helberg have already signed contracts to make $1 million per episode for seasons 11 and 12, but have offered to give $100,000 each to split between Bialik and Rauch, who currently make $200,000 per episode, according to Variety.

The raises would bring Balik and Rauch to $450,000 each per episode, still only half of what their co-stars are making, Variety noted.

Both actors entered the show in Season 3 but have become lead characters after seven years on the show. Bialik plays Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s girlfriend, and was nominated for a best supporting actress Emmy for four consecutive years, while Rauch plays Howard’s wife Bernadette, who just had a baby in an episode that got high ratings.

Although it is speculated Bialik and Rauch might hold out for even more than the $450,000 per episode currently being discussed, Variety reasoned that bigger raises may be a tough sell since the CBS license fee for carrying the show is no longer covering its production costs, as it did in earlier seasons.

Fox News reported both sides are confident a deal can be made, and that “Big Bang Theory” will be renewed for at least two more seasons of 24 episodes each. “Big Bang Theory” is the top-rated comedy on television this year.

Twitter users applauded the voluntary pay cuts.
