’s representatives had to deny a report Wednesday that said she planned to make a formal announcement about her run for the presidency at a May 26 rally in Iowa. Meanwhile, Bachmann told Fox New 10 in Toledo, Ohio that she plans to make an announcement in June.
“I’ve been to New Hampshire and Iowa, South Carolina,” Bachmann said. “We’ve had an incredibly positive reception from people there. So we’ll let you know in June, probably before the next debate.”
A published report Wednesday said that an Iowa insider expected her to declare her candidacy at a Polk County GOP fundraiser, the MinnPost news website reported Thursday.
No true, said Andy Parrish, the congresswoman’s chief of staff.
“Perhaps some of the presidential campaigns are irritated by Rep. Michele Bachmann’s presence in Iowa,” Parrish said. “That must be why they’ve resorted to the tired old political game of trying to hype expectations by making up stories about her upcoming trip to the Hawkeye State.
"The congresswoman is honored to be the keynote speaker at the Polk County GOP's dinner on May 26th. She's looking forward to a wonderful night with those in attendance in Des Moines."
