B. Smith: Missing Model and Restauranteur Found in Manhattan Diner

Restaurateur and former model B. Smith, who has Alzheimer's, was reported missing in New York by her husband when she didn't return home Tuesday night.

WABC-TV reported that Smith was later found at a Manhattan diner.

Smith’s husband, Dan Gasby, was the one who reported her missing.

Smith, who owns restaurants in Manhattan and Sag Harbor, was seen in Southampton at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, NBC Washington reported.

Smith, 64, was wearing a blue sweater, pink shirt, jeans and black sneakers when she took a jitney from New York City to Sag Harbor. She was thought have been headed for her home in Southampton, Long Island.

Smith became the first African-American woman to model for the cover of Mademoiselle in July 1976. She opened her first restaurant in 1986. She also developed a home décor line and is known as a national speaker and author.

Twitter users expressed concern before Smith was found.
