Justine Damond called 911 twice while possibly trying to help a sexual assault victim before the Australian native herself was gunned down by Minneapolis police arriving on the scene, according to transcripts acquired by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Damond, 40, whose real name is Justine Ruszczyk but who had already taken the name of her fiancée, was killed Saturday night outside her Minneapolis home, reportedly by Officer Mohamed Noor, who was in the passenger seat of the police vehicle and fired through the driver's-side window, all according to NBC News.

She had already approached the squad car and was standing at the open driver’s-side window when a single bullet struck her, said authorities.

Damond had called for help at 11:27 p.m. and reported sounds that she believed was a possible sexual assault, said the Star Tribune.

"I'm not sure if she's having sex or being raped," Damond told the 911 operator. "I think she just yelled out 'help,' but it's difficult the sound has been going on for a while, but I think, I don't think she's enjoying it."

According to the transcript, the operator told Damond that an officer was on the way to the scene.

Damond called back to 911 eight minutes later to make sure police had the correct address. Damond repeated that she heard a woman screaming and the dispatcher told her again that officers were on their way, noted the Star Tribune.

Damond died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen that hit her after a squad car driven by Officer Matthew Harrity eventually arrived and she had approached the vehicle, according to a Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension statement.

"As they reached West 51st Street, Officer Harrity indicated that he was startled by a loud sound near the squad," said the statement. "Immediately afterward Ruszczyk approached the driver's side window of the squad. Harrity indicated that Officer Noor discharged his weapon, striking Ruszczyk through the open driver’s side window.”

"The officers immediately exited the squad and provided medical attention until medical personnel arrived. Ruszczyk was pronounced dead at the scene. Both officers have been placed on standard administrative leave."
