An anti-Trump joke may be the reason that a celebrity dentist got yanked from his flight on Sunday.

Celebrity dentist Shawn Sadri claimed he was kicked off an American Airlines flight – from Los Angeles to New York – after he cracked a joke about President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, The Washington Post reported.

The Iranian dentist said he was seated next to a “6- or 7-year-old boy” who appeared to only be able to speak Spanish, Fox News noted.

The Spanish-speaking boy was crying.

“I asked the boy, ‘Are you OK? Are you traveling alone?’” Sadri said, according to Fox News.

“Out of nowhere, he [the child] runs down the aisle and starts screaming!” Sadri said.

A flight attendant walked over to see what the problem was, which is when Sadri said he blurted out a joke that perhaps the little boy was crying due to fear that Trump was going to deport him, The Washington Post noted.

The joke wasn’t received well by the flight attendant.

“She said, ‘Don’t say that – that’s so rude,’” Sadri told The Washington Post.

“It was just a simple joke,” he added.

“I said, ‘You must be a Trump supporter,’ and she said, ‘So what if I am?’ Once I said ‘Trump supporter’ and ‘deported’ – that was it,” Sadri said.

Following a back-and-forth with the flight attendant, Sadri said he was booted from the plane.

American Airlines said in a statement that a passenger was removed Sunday from a New York-bound plane “for being disruptive and not following crew member instructions,” The Washington Post reported, adding that the airline didn't identify the passenger.

Despite his joke being controversial, Sadri said he believes there was more to the situation, claiming that he was kicked off the flight for other reasons as well.

“I wasn’t yelling, I wasn’t swearing, it was 6 a.m., I hadn’t been drinking,” Sadri said, according to Fox News. “I’m a New Yorker – I’m not going to back down – and I was born a Muslim in Iran. I do think all those things played into it.”

Sadri was booked on the next flight to New York following the incident.

Prior to arriving at the airport, Sadri had performed cosmetic work for a few of his clients who were attending the Oscars that night, Fox News noted.

A couple of Sadri’s celebrity clients include Actor Aaron Paul from “Breaking Bad” and Olympian Gabby Douglas.

Twitter users shared mixed reactions to the incident.
