Actress Amanda Peterson, who starred in the 1987 movie "Can't Buy Me Love" with Patrick Dempsey, was found dead at her Colorado home over the weekend. The cause of the 43-year-old's death hasn't been determined.

No one had heard from the former actress, who left the entertainment business in 1994, since Friday and her body was found at her home in Greely on Sunday, according to celebrity website TMZ.

"She had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed," Peterson's father told TMZ.

Greeley Police Sgt. Mike Moran said the investigation into her death was continuing, reported USA Today.

"It's a big loss," her mother Sylvia Peterson told CNN. "Such a loveable person. She had some medical problems with her heart but we don't know the cause yet."

Along with her movie career, Peterson starred in the 1980s television mini-series and regular series "A Year in the Life," "Boone" and her last series "Jack's Place" in 1993, noted IMDB.com.

Amanda Peterson appeared in her first film at nine when she had a part in the 1982 movie "Annie," directed by John Huston, and also had roles in in the television series "Father Murphy," "Silver Spoons" and "Doogie Howser." She also performed with River Phoenix and Ethan Hawke in the 1985 movie "Explorers."

Several celebrities and fans paid tribute to Peterson on social media.
