Amanda Knox's former boyfriend Rafaelle Sollecito appeared as a crime expert on the popular Italian show "Il giallo della settimana" or "The Mystery of the Week," on Saturday.

According to The Times of London, Sollecito was a guest criminologist on the show and offered his opinions on the 2010 murder of Sarah Scazzi, a 15-year-old girl who lived in the city of Puglia.

Knox and Sollecito were originally found guilty in 2009 of killing Knox's roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, Italy, where she was studying abroad. Over the course of a years-long battle in the Italian justice system, they were acquitted, then convicted again, then acquitted again — for a last time in 2015.

Rudy Guede, from the Ivory Coast, was also convicted in Kercher's murder and sentenced to 16 years in prison.

"I have been a victim of a miscarriage of justice, I know the faults of the justice system, what happens in jail and what happens when the media twists the truth," Sollecito said, according NBC News. "The usual experts on these shows have seen these things through a window — I have lived them."

Paul Landry, the director of the television channel, told Corrierre.it that Sollecito will speak from his knowledge of the justice system, according to the Daily Mail.

"Sollecito was finally acquitted by the Supreme Court, has been in prison, he faced all levels," Landry said. "He's knows the machine of justice better than all of us."

Sollecito has made a claim for wrongful imprisonment against the Italian government for 500,000 Euros, or $567,000. He also commented that he was still paying a large legal bill from his eight-year court battle for freedom, noted the Daily Mail.

Sollecito recently completely his master's degree in the University of Verona, focusing his thesis on an analysis of social media activity related to his criminal case. Amanda Knox currently resides in the United States.
